Guide · Claude
How to use Claude for competitor analysis. With live data from Outmano.
Claude is strong at turning messy information into a clear memo, battlecard, or plan. Connect it to Outmano and it works from your competitors' current pricing, feature gaps, reviews, SEO moves, and battlecards instead of its training data. Here is the setup for Claude Desktop and Claude Code.
Short answer
Add your competitors to Outmano and create an MCP key. Add Outmano to Claude Desktop's config file, or to Claude Code with one command. Then ask Claude about your competitors in plain words and it answers from tracked data. For repeat work, keep the context in a Claude Project.
Which features do most of my competitors market that we don't?
Claude · used Outmano
Three gaps where most rivals are ahead. SSO on mid-tier plans (4 of 5 competitors), a public API (4 of 5), and a Slack integration (3 of 5). Two of them you already have but don't mention on your site, so a copy fix closes those this week.

Step by step
Set up Claude as your competitor analyst.
-
1
Add your competitors to Outmano.
Sign up and add three to eight direct rivals. Outmano starts tracking their pricing, features, roadmap, reviews, news, blog, and SEO every day and keeps the full history, so Claude can answer what changed and when.
-
2
Create an MCP key.
In Outmano, open Integrations → MCP and create a key. It is shown once, it can only read data, and you can revoke it at any time.
-
3
Add Outmano to Claude.
In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit Config and add the entry below, then restart Claude. In Claude Code, run one command. Claude Desktop needs Node.js for the npx bridge.
Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json)
{ "mcpServers": { "outmano": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://outmano.com/mcp", "--header", "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"] } } }Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http outmano \ https://outmano.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"
Custom connectors on claude.ai in the browser sign in with OAuth, which Outmano does not offer yet, so connect through Claude Desktop or Claude Code.
-
4
Ask in plain words.
Ask what you want to know. Claude picks the right Outmano tool, shows you the call, and answers from tracked data.
"Use Outmano to tell me what changed across my competitors this week, and which change matters most for our positioning."
-
5
Keep the context in a Project.
Create a Claude Project for competitive work and put your positioning, pricing, and ideal customer in its instructions. Every chat in the Project starts with that context, so the analysis is about your market, not a generic one.
"We sell [product] to [customer]. Our plans are [plans]. When you analyze competitors, use Outmano for facts and judge every change against our positioning."
-
6
Turn the answer into something your team uses.
Ask Claude for the output your team reads: a battlecard, a pricing memo, a roadmap note, or a Slack post. It can write a document you download or paste.

Safe to hand to Claude
Read-only, workspace-scoped, revocable.
Claude can read Outmano data, never change it. Every tool is read-only and tells the client so. A key is scoped to your workspace, so it only reads intelligence for the competitors you track. Keys are stored hashed, shown once, and revoked instantly from Integrations → MCP. The MCP server page has setup for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex too.
Questions? Answers.
Yes. Connect Claude to Outmano over MCP and it reads tracked pricing changes, feature gaps, roadmap changes, reviews, news, SEO data, and battlecards for every competitor you follow, then turns them into memos, battlecards, and plans.
Create a key in Outmano under Integrations → MCP. In Claude Desktop, add an outmano entry to claude_desktop_config.json that runs mcp-remote with https://outmano.com/mcp and your key, then restart Claude. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add with the URL and an Authorization header.
Not yet. Custom connectors on claude.ai sign in with OAuth, and Outmano's MCP server uses an API key today. Use Claude Desktop or Claude Code.
