What is SERP analysis?
SERP analysis is examining a search engine results page before trying to rank on it: who holds the top positions, what content format wins (comparison, listicle, product page, video), what the results reveal about intent, and which features — AI overviews, featured snippets, ads — take clicks before anyone scrolls. The SERP is the competitive landscape for that keyword, rendered literally as a ranked list.
The practical payoff is choosing battles: a keyword whose SERP is wall-to-wall high-authority incumbents is a different investment than one where a thin forum thread ranks third. In competitor terms, the SERPs for your money keywords are shelf space — worth monitoring like any other territory rivals can take.
