What is competitive intelligence?
Competitive intelligence is the systematic practice of gathering, analyzing, and acting on information about competitors, customers, and market conditions. It draws on public sources — pricing pages, product updates, reviews, job postings, marketing campaigns — and turns them into insight a team can actually use.
Unlike one-off research, competitive intelligence is an ongoing discipline: the goal is to spot competitor moves early enough to respond, whether that means adjusting pricing, sharpening positioning, or prioritizing a roadmap item. Small teams increasingly automate the collection side so analysis, not copy-pasting, is where the time goes.
