Confirming a competitor's data sources

Use the Setup tab to check what Outmano discovered and fill in anything it couldn't find.

When you add a competitor, Outmano goes looking for their pricing page, blog, roadmap, careers page and reviews on its own. The Setup tab is where you confirm what it found and fix what it didn’t.

Where to find it

Open the competitor — the Setup tab sits at the top of their sidebar. It’s only there while at least one angle is still waiting on a source, and it disappears by itself once everything is ready. The URL keeps working afterwards, so a bookmark or an old link never 404s.

What the checklist shows

One row per angle, with a running ready count:

  • Pricing — their pricing page URL
  • SEO & keywords — derived from their domain, nothing to fill in
  • Blog & content — a blog URL or RSS/Atom feed
  • Roadmap — a public roadmap or changelog
  • Reviews — their Trustpilot domain
  • Features — read from their site, nothing to fill in
  • Hiring — a careers page, or a hosted job board (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby)

Rows still fetching show as pending and update themselves while you watch — no need to reload.

Fill in a missing source

Where discovery came up empty, the row explains what’s missing and gives you a field. Paste the URL and save; the row re-checks in place and the next fetch uses what you gave it.

You can also correct the competitor’s name from here if Outmano’s auto-detection got it wrong.

Not every product has a public roadmap or a blog. Leaving those blank is fine — the angle stays empty rather than showing you invented data.

Skip it

Skip setup hides the tab for this competitor. Fetching carries on in the background either way, and every source stays editable from Settings in the competitor’s sidebar.

Why it’s worth finishing

Angles without a source never produce data, which means no changes in the feed, nothing in Slack alerts or the weekly digest for that angle, and no ranking in Compare. A battlecard needs at least two angles with content before it can be generated at all.
